Portrait of Stephen coming soon.

A life behind the lens

Stephen took his first photograph when he was eight years old, and he has been chasing light ever since. He studied at Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford and at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Philadelphia.

His camera work took him into television and film — running camera on live sports broadcasts in Philadelphia and spending years on the crew of Trading Spaces. More than twenty years ago he moved to Maui as Director of Photography for Paradise Television, Channel 7, and the island has been home ever since.

The ocean at the center

Stephen started surfing more than twenty-five years ago, and the ocean runs through everything he makes: the waves, reef creatures, and island flowers in his paintings, the shorebreak and sunrises in his photographs, and the way he reads light on every shoot.

Paintings on recycled canvas

His original paintings are bold, mosaic-style pieces with a stained-glass glow, each one painted on fully recycled canvas. Every original is one of a kind.
