I loved watching, reading, and drawing cartoons as a child. I was constantly doodling. I painted my first stretched canvas at the Hartford School of Art in 1980. I have been painting ever since.
I use recycled canvases in most of paintings. My profession as photographer requires technical precision. My paintings are the exact opposite. They are free flowing organic creations. I often times I use whatever is on the recycled canvas to inspire the final painting, and you can see traces of the original art.
At the age of 36 I had an alcoholic seizure on a movie set. That was the day i stopped drinking. As an addict you can not just give up an addiction. You have to replace the addiction. I replaced drinking with surfing. Surfing saved my life and eventually led me to the island of Maui, which I have benn blessed to called home for the past twenty years.
I think my art reflects my belief that there are no straight lines in life and in nature.
